Registration is with a registry

A domain is not a product we own and resell like storage — it is a registration held with the registry for that ending (for example, KeNIC for .co.ke and .ke). We register it in your name on your behalf through an accredited registrar.

You must provide accurate registrant details, and keep them up to date. Registries can suspend a domain with inaccurate or unverifiable details.

Fees are non-refundable

Registration and renewal fees are paid to the registry at the moment of registration and are non-refundable, including if you registered the wrong name by mistake. Check the spelling before you buy.

Renewals and expiry

Domains are registered for a fixed term (usually one year) and must be renewed to keep them. We aim to remind you before expiry and, unless you cancel, will attempt to renew automatically at the then-current price.

If a domain expires, the registry's own reclaim, grace and redemption periods apply. Recovering an expired domain may cost more than a normal renewal, and after a point the domain is released for anyone to register.

Transfers

Transferring a domain to ZenHost usually requires it to be unlocked at your current provider and an authorisation code (EPP code). Most endings add one year of registration to the domain as part of the transfer, so a transfer carries a registration fee — it is not free.

Transfers away from ZenHost are your right; we will not unreasonably prevent one.

Privacy

Some domain endings publish registrant details in public WHOIS records. Where a privacy option is available for an ending, we will tell you and apply it if you choose it.

Disputes

Domain disputes (for example, trademark claims) are handled under the dispute-resolution policy of the relevant registry, not by ZenHost.
